Creative Sydney: Scratching The Surface

Art — By on June 28, 2010 at 12:58 am

Part of a series of free public events in Sydney,Australia called Creative Sydney, Scratching The Surface was one of the most popular shows. Five of Sydney’s leading street artists Beastman, Max Berry, Numskull, Phibs and Roach painted a 2.5m x 10m collaborative mural which was installed in Sydney’s museum of contemporary art. The goal of this event was to draw attention to and make a bold statement about the high quality but temporary nature of public or “street” art in Sydney. The goal was achieved through “buffing” the amazing 10m mural in front of a crowd who turned up expecting the artists to be painting the mural live.
