GOLD MMVIII | First Look
Fashion — By JGM Staff on January 5, 2011 at 2:48 pmHere we take a look into a young brand by the name of GOLD MMVIII , first caught our attention on here when we posted the “Love You So” video from The Jealous Guys, Ayinde from the Jealous Guys was sporting the GOLD fitted cap and hoody. We couldn’t help but inquire what brand was that. Not to be confused with Acapulco Gold , these guys are from British Columbia, Canada and have a much newer outlook on streetwear.
GOLD MMVII was founded in 2008 by Shun Kinoshita , before that Shun worked on developing and promoting the brand in his early high school years. The brand was first called “Gold and a Pager” inspired by N.W.A’s controversial “Fuck The Police” song . At just age 16 and starting out with so little , Shun managed to sell a lot of clothes , raise awareness and raise over 10,0000 dollars for charities, til this day he still gives back to charities. As he grew the brand grew , GOLD MMVII is more than just t shirts prints and hats. It’s inspired by Japanese culture and Shun’s personal experiences in life , he takes his family’s roots into the brand. The circle design logo you see on the clothes is his family’s crest, when you wear GOLD MMVII your not just putting on just anything , your gaining a piece of a family’s culture and history. GOLD MMVII is a prime example of hope for the future of streetwear and it also gives hope to the new generation.
