Patrick Stump (of Fall Out Boy) Does Acapella Mash-Up of Grammy Nominated Hits

Frontman for the one-time quintessential punk band Fall Out Boy, singer Patrick Stump delivers an awesome viral to unsuspecting music fans.  He puts his strong rocker croon on display for all to hear as he belts out a mix of snippets from five of the year’s biggest records.  All five songs (Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind,” B.O.B. ft. Bruno Mars “Nothin’ On You,” Eminem ft. Rihanna “Love The Way You Lie,” Cee Lo “Fuck You,” and Lady Antebellum “Need You Now”) are among the top contenders at this year’s Grammy awards.

Stump revealed his motivation for this surprising but highly enjoyable video in an email to MTV News, saying “I guess I decided to do the acapella thing ’cause I’ve been put down as a musician a few times as ‘just a singer,’ and I wanted to kind of see how much [of] a musician I could be with just my voice.”  This piece of great musical footage was originally intended only for the private viewing of the Fall Out Boy member and his friends.  Upon witnessing the clip however, Stump’s inner circle convinced him to share this with us all.  And we thank them for it.

Patrick Stump’s very first solo album titled Soul Punk will be released sometime in 2011.
