D. Julien | “Ready For Tomorrow” (Mixtape)
Music — By Logoism on June 6, 2011 at 5:56 pmWe’ve got word about this project dropping from our dudes over at Barrel House, Ready For Tomorrow is a very solid mixtape from the rookie emcee D.Julien. Even before the co-sign from Barrel House D.Julien has always been on our radar. I can recall a time when Myspace was big, i would always see new blog posts on their from him about new music etc. He has come a long way from that now, independently he has gained a faithful fan base and praises from hip hop publications such as XXL and 2 Dope Boyz.
Now lets touch on this mixtape! The energy he gives off makes us feel like this is all or nothing , right off the bat the first song lets you know that. He talks about quitting his day time job and pursuing his hip hop dreams to the fullest. There are plenty of great “quotables” and wise words on here as well, rarely do you get that from youngn’s. The stories and life experiences he speaks of on here make it real interesting to listen to, feels almost like you are listening to an O.G in the game. The production quality is definitely top notch, definitely has the aura of an album. Composed of 16 tracks, Julien rocks out solo on most of em’ but with 2 dope features from the Detroit native Young Scolla & Tolu. Below is one sample track, that should be enough to encourage a download. Enjoy!
