Sunglasses from Recycled Skateboards

The brothers Gianni and Bapiste Vuerich propose a new way to recycle the skateboards being thrown out now. The project is based on the use of the old plywood as the material for the production of spectacle frames, using just the fascination that the board buys time with wear. The brothers describe their idea as well:

“This eyewear has potential to change the vision of the product in the eyewear industries. An alternative way of thinking what we’re wearing and where it Came From. By converting old skateboards we avoid wasting valuable sunglasses into land resources, it is not needed to cut more trees or maple to extract more oil and to refine. Between different connections created using recycled materials derived environments from an urban activity to a new form of design in the middle of the optical design to open new prospects for the manufacturing method.”

The supply of the material takes place both through a series of skate shops or directly on the street. Vuerich glasses are different from each other, weigh only 30 grams and are made from boards to 7 layers of wood in Canada. The project has also been nominated for an Index Award .
