While we’re about to have the tallest building here in NY, the youth of Korea just built a modern marvel that set a world record. Celebrating Lego’s 80th birthday, kids in South Korea help build a 105 foot skyscraper made out of Lego’s in front of Seoul’s Olympic Stadium, created from over 500,000 bricks and sets the new world record for the Tallest Lego Tower, according to the World Records Academy.

He’s back! After curating his first show “it’s a small, small world” in NYC, the sophisticated word dropper / flamboyant father of art, Hennessy Youngman drops two new “Art Thoughtz” videos. It’s been 2 years since he’s started doing this and since then he has been asked to give lectures at museums and his recent show had NY in a frenzy. His two latest videos give you upcoming artists advice on studio visit and grad school, pay close attention and enjoy.

After a week of the sad death of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, already many people around the world have bought Beastie Boy albums in remembrance of Adam.  Here we look at the side of  a 20 x 3.5 meter mural made ​​by Aroe, it’s an ode to Adam. Impressive in size and perfect down to the smallest detail, the piece that the English writer of MSK, Heavy Artillery Crew has painted is basically a reinterpretation of the first ever hard cover Beastie Boys, Licensed to Ill (1986) album. Graffiti vandal Kidult is infamous for wrecking high fashion store fronts from New York to London. It’s been quiet for him and stores have been very cautious on what they do to promote their clothes. Brands fall victim to vandalism because of them using a culture they know nothing about to promote their product. They latest victim is Marc Jacobs, his Soho store was hit last night. Lord knows why, cleaning efforts have been made, the paint will be gone by morning.

Say it ain’t so? Graffiti artist Sever painted some striking murals in the city of Detroit as part of the city’s “Beautification Project” , the murals pertain to the state of street art and how America stands today. In one mural he hints that street art is dead with a painting of a casket being carried by some of the most popular names in the street art world like Banksy, Futura, Kaws, Os Gemeos,Shepard Fairey and Twist. The other painting is with an obese Captain America eating a bucket of chicken, I think Sever is trying to portray America’s greed through this, a country that’s suppose to be a super power and one that’s suppose to be a leading nation has gotten fat. The NYC Municipal Archives recently unveiled over 1 million unseen old NYC photos online, since then the site has been down for a while due to heavy traffic. But here are some golden photos out of the large stash, these photos uncover Old Williamsburg, way before the hipsters and thrift shops arrived and even before the Williamsburg bridge was built. You’ll see photos ranging from the mid 1900′s up to the time when Ed Koch was the mayor in NYC, and that’s around the 1970′s. Enjoy the photos.

New York Resident and filmmaker Casey Neistat captured some great photos of Occupy Wall Street‘s “May Day” which was yesterday May 1, 2012. May Day has been campaigned by OWS protesters since winter through ads, graffiti and word of mouth, it was planned to be an all out no holds barred strike. Well from the looks of it, seems like they did go all out, but we haven’t heard much about it. It’s almost as if the media isn’t trying to report about the OWS movement anymore. It amazes me how the world works, a few weeks ago I attended a crazy party that my friend Jorge invited me to in Brooklyn. There I met this cool white guy who I didn’t exchange much words with but had mutual respect for each other through music and clothes. As a dope song came on we both nodded at each other like “Yeah this that sh*t”. He snapped a few flicks of me in my Tommy Hilfiger/Wu-tang inspired Marino Goods shirt, I was curious onto where these photos would be going so I gave him my card and he handed me a sticker with a bald guys head cut off.

He also told me his siteURL but I had too many sips of Henny and was having too much fun to remember. Later that weekend I posted a picture of his sticker on a red party cup on my twitter account. Then boom, right away my homie called it out and said “Hey that’s the Wables guy”, and I’m like who? From there I was forwarded to his twitter and website which showcases some really great photos, I recognized his work from seeing them floating around on tumblr too. I reached out to him and today I ended up writing about him. Derrick Oertwig of The Bay Area, California  is “Wables“, he made the move to Brooklyn in ’11 and has been indulging in the NY nightlife since then. Wables’ original passion for shooting was portrait photography but fell into shooting shows and parties once he moved to the city that never sleeps, he likes shooting in black and white and has a cool obsession with shooting bodyscapes. Below he gathered some of his favorite photos for us that feature people like A$AP Rocky,  Flatbush Zombies and much more. Enjoy.

Want to propose to your lady, why not paint her a mural and make that moment last forever? Late last month, a graffiti artist in Detroit proposed to his girlfriend by painting an outdoor mural in Eastern Market asking her to marry him. Everyone has seen a Spike Lee movie once in their life, whether it be Crooklyn, Do The Right Thing or his latest The Inside Man starring Denzel Washington, all of these movies have one special thing in common. That one thing is called “The Dolly Shot”, it’s that one recognizable scene that you see in all of his movies, when the character sits still and everything around them is moving.
