Even the people with those characteristics listed still don’t call themselves hipsters, that is almost like the highest insult to a person now-a-days. People have grown an everlasting hate for the “hipster”, but still no one even knows what one is or what the word means, so how do you classify one? Lorena Gaillot, a French citizen who moved to NYC last year wasn’t familiar with the term, so she also tackled the subject by visiting the hipster mecca of the world, Williamsburg, Brooklyn to find out.

Say it ain’t so? Graffiti artist Sever painted some striking murals in the city of Detroit as part of the city’s “Beautification Project” , the murals pertain to the state of street art and how America stands today. In one mural he hints that street art is dead with a painting of a casket being carried by some of the most popular names in the street art world like Banksy, Futura, Kaws, Os Gemeos,Shepard Fairey and Twist. The other painting is with an obese Captain America eating a bucket of chicken, I think Sever is trying to portray America’s greed through this, a country that’s suppose to be a super power and one that’s suppose to be a leading nation has gotten fat. What do you think these paintings mean?

“In 1995, during the making of his TV series Triumph of the Nerds about the birth of the PC, Bob Cringely did a memorable hour-long interview with Steve Jobs.

It was 10 years since Jobs had left Apple following a bruising struggle with John Sculley, the CEO he had brought into the company. At the time of the interview Jobs was running NeXT, the niche computer company he had founded after leaving Apple.

During the interview, Jobs was at his charismatic best — witty, outspoken, visionary. In the end, only a part of the interview was used in the series and the rest was thought lost. But recently a VHS copy was found in the series director’s garage. Now, cleaned up with modern technology, and put into context by Cringely, the entire interview will be screened in Landmark Theatres.

In the interview Jobs talks about his pioneering days with Steve Wozniak, when they built a Blue Box and phoned the Pope; how they — “two guys who didn’t know much” — assembled the first Apple computer and went on to found the Apple company. “I was worth around a million dollars when I was 23, over 10 million dollars when I was 24 and over 100 million dollars when I was 25 — and it wasn’t really important!” Jobs recalls the visits he made to Xerox Palo Alto Research Center and how it inspired the making of the Macintosh, the world’s first modern PC, when he was “on a mission from God to save Apple.” He talks frankly and sadly about his enforced departure from Apple and explains what he is doing at NeXT (which he would soon sell to Apple and whose software would then be at the heart of the first iMac’s operating system). Finally in spell-binding terms, he offers his vision of a digital future — a world of wonderful products created by artists and poets.

It is an interview that reveals the burning passion of Steve Jobs, a passion that would go on to give us the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. As a tribute to an amazing man, Landmark is proud to be screening Steve Jobs — the Lost Interview.”

But here are some golden photos out of the large stash, these photos uncover Old Williamsburg, way before the hipsters and thrift shops arrived and even before the Williamsburg bridge was built. You’ll see photos ranging from the mid 1900′s up to the time when Ed Koch was the mayor in NYC, and that’s around the 1970′s. Enjoy the photos.

Directed and produced by two of the best connoisseurs of the scene, Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau, “DOIN ‘IT IN THE PARK” tells the story of this culture – with costumes, its places, its language and its laws – through the stories of its protagonists, by Julius “Dr. J “Erving to newcomers, passing through the street-legends Richard” Crazy Legs “Colon.

“DOIN ‘IT IN THE PARK: PICK-UP BASKETBALL, NYC Explores the definition, history, cultures and social impact of New York’s summer b-ball scenes, Widely Recognized worldwide as the “Mecca” of the sport.

In New York City, pick-up basketball is not just a sport. It is a way of life. There are 700 + outdoor courts, and an estimated 500.000 players, the most loyal of Which approach the game as a religion, and the playground as Their church.

“You can play high school or college for four years. You can play Pro for a decade. You can play pick-up … for life. ”

DOIN ‘IT IN THE PARK: PICK-UP BASKETBALL, NYC lovingly uncovers this movement through the voices of playground legends, NBA athletes, and most importantly the common ballplayer who looks forward to all day calling “next” Their game at local schoolyard.

Co-directors Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau visited 180 courts throughout NYC’s five boroughs to create Their debut documentary. They traveled to a Majority of the locations by bicycle, carrying camera equipment and a ball in Their backpacks. The film’s title Refers to the subject matter as much as it does to the method of filmmaking, Providing an unprecedented perspective on urban America’s most popular, and accessible, free recreation.”

It amazes me how the world works, a few weeks ago I attended a crazy party that my friend Jorge invited me to in Brooklyn. There I met this cool white guy who I didn’t exchange much words with but had mutual respect for each other through music and clothes. As a dope song came on we both nodded at each other like “Yeah this that sh*t”. He snapped a few flicks of me in my Tommy Hilfiger/Wu-tang inspired Marino Goods shirt, I was curious onto where these photos would be going so I gave him my card and he handed me a sticker with a bald guys head cut off.

He also told me his siteURL but I had too many sips of Henny and was having too much fun to remember. Later that weekend I posted a picture of his sticker on a red party cup on my twitter account. Then boom, right away my homie called it out and said “Hey that’s the Wables guy”, and I’m like who? From there I was forwarded to his twitter and website which showcases some really great photos, I recognized his work from seeing them floating around on tumblr too. I reached out to him and today I ended up writing about him. Derrick Oertwig of The Bay Area, California is “Wables“, he made the move to Brooklyn in ’11 and has been indulging in the NY nightlife since then. Wables’ original passion for shooting was portrait photography but fell into shooting shows and parties once he moved to the city that never sleeps, he likes shooting in black and white and has a cool obsession with shooting bodyscapes. Below he gathered some of his favorite photos for us that feature people like A$AP Rocky, Flatbush Zombies and much more. Enjoy.

Everyone has seen a Spike Lee movie once in their life, whether it be Crooklyn, Do The Right Thing or his latest The Inside Man starring Denzel Washington, all of these movies have one special thing in common. That one thing is called “The Dolly Shot”, it’s that one recognizable scene that you see in all of his movies, when the character sits still and everything around them is moving. Almost looks as if the person is floating. Below is a whole reel of Spike’s famous Dolly Shots.
