World’s Largest Lego Tower!

While we’re about to have the tallest building here in NY, the youth of Korea just built a modern marvel that set a world record. Celebrating Lego’s 80th birthday, kids in South Korea help build a 105 foot skyscraper made out of Lego’s in front of Seoul’s Olympic Stadium, created from over 500,000 bricks and sets the new world record for the Tallest Lego Tower, according to the World Records Academy.

I’ve had my eye on the Queens emcee Meyhem Lauren for quite sometime, first seen him rockin’ out with the original Lo Life crew on G4 TV, there’s always one that sticks out from the bunch. Meyhem Lauren is a true lyricist and wordplay is his specialty, if slang was something you could study in school he’d most likely be the one teaching it.

Meyhem is good pals with Action Bronson, the two share a lot in common when it comes to style and rapping. Action ranted on twitter a month back about recording Meyhem Lauren’s mixtape in a hotel room in Texas during SXSW with producers, Harry Fraud and Tommy Mas. While everyone was out partying after their shows these guys were working, the crazy story unfolds below.

“MCA Day” In Union Square

This weekend just got a little bit better, this Saturday Haiti will be celebrating their independence and also a group of music lovers will be celebrating the life of Adam “MCA’” Yauch. On May 11th a Twitter and Facebook page were set up for MCA Day, which will honor the late Adam “MCA” Yauch. The event will take place this Saturday May 19th in Union Square, and will give fans of the Beastie Boy a place to memorialize him as a group.

On the Facebook page, organizer Michael Kearney has written: “Picture an NYC Subway car full of all types and walks of life… singing Beastie Boys songs in unison. That’s my vision for MCA DAY NYC. I’m going to build that. Thanks for your support. That trains a coming…” We’ve contacted Kearney for more information on the event, and will update as more details come in.

MCA Day will start at 11 a.m. in Union Square. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring songs, memories, and anything else that will help pay tribute to Yauch and his life.

Video: Jealous Guys “Love and Other Drugs”

San Fransisco’s Jealous Guy’s recently dropped a new video for the song “Love and Other Drugs” featured below. The video portrays a gorgeous women losing focus and feeling the effects of drug abuse while also showing some pretty cool etch and sketch visuals in the background. This song is definitely a different approach for the Bay Area duo whose previous tracks such as “Bus Stop Jazz” and “The Ballad“ sound much more like east coast hip-hop in the early 90′s. It’s hard to ignore “Love and Other Drugs” striking resemblance to the A$AP MOB sound. However we do have love for Jealous Guys and are excited for the album no matter which direction they go in.

Sans Nom Clothing | S/S 2012 Pt. 2

For their second clothing drop out of their Spring/Summer 2012 collection, the French label Sans Nom teamed up with the young photographer from London, Finn Andres. Together they help shed some light on Finn’s photos that he has took by screen printing 2 of his best images on their shirts. The images were taken during protests in Paris, and during their first visit to Paris, the Sans Nom crew was with him to experience the moments, so you can see how picking the photos came about. We previously told you about the brand new sneaker company C.A.N.V.A.S (CAN Visually Achieve Success) founded by Nick Cannon and his wife Mariah Carey, it is a project that’s set out to empower youth and young adults across the world. C.A.N.V.A.S shoes are one of a kind, decorated with abstract versions of the primary colors.

With the company taking off strong they have just thrown a decked out Gala event at the Opera Gallery in NYC this past Friday. Many talented artists and influencers were in the building to support Project C.A.N.V.A.S, stars from Mr. Brainwash to Ellen DeGeneres donated their painted shoes to the space. It was an event to help support the creative arts program itself and to help build self-esteem and nurture optimism amongst youths. Auctioned off was a very rare time piece from the prestige Swiss watch company Audemars Piguet that went for 22,000 dollars, big money was in the house that night, we got a chance to experience it all, check the photos below.
