“Sources tell The Observer that Mr. West sent members of his team to meet with film companies and government officials based out of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha, Qatar to explore the idea of a production. A number of local municipal officials and film companies are said to be engaged in what was characterized as a heated bidding war for the contracts involved in bringing Mr. West’s vision to life.

“In Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha all of the film initiatives are government controlled,” one source involved in the talks explained. “A bidding war is going on between various government entities and private investors to fund the film. There’s pretty intense rivalry here between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar. They all want to claim the film as their own and take credit for generating the publicity.”

Now we’ve already showed you Stanley Kubric‘s 1940′s photo set of NYC, and we just put out Steven Siegel‘s 1980′s photo set which was in color. Now take a look at photographer Frank Oscar Larson’ s work, documented life on the streets of New York during the ’50s. The banker-turned-amateur photographer shot in his spare time and developed his photos in his basement darkroom in Flushing. Larson was an avid, empathetic observer of the life of the streets, and in his eyes, the mundane becomes miraculous. He was able to achieve a great intimacy and immediacy taking unguarded, candid shots. Honouring the work of Frank Oscar Larson, a selection of these images will be on display at the Queens Museum in an exhibition running from February 5th to May 20th.

Last night the sold out concert for A$AP Rocky at Irving Plaza was spectacular. Fans lined up anxiously to get inside the venue, they were in for a big surprise. Not only did they get to see A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob live, but they got to see the Flatbush Zombies & Danny Brown open up for him and also the surprise guests Bun-B and Waka Flocka Flame. A$AP Rocky has come along way since his summertime stardom, you can only imagine how good it feels for him to sell out a show in his hometown and receive nothing but love from the city that raised him. We attended Community 54‘s special instore sales event that featured an appearance from the style mogul Taz Arnold and his clothing brand TI$A. The store front was super packed with TI$A fans anxious to get there hands on the new items, available in store were new snapback hats, sweatshirts, and plenty of accessories. Midway through the event, the Community 54 courtyard filled up with people waiting for Taz’s appearance. Finally he came through, dipped in a vintage MCM leather trench, fresh vintage shades and gold YSL pins galore. Fans and cameras rushed the man of the hour with questions, greets and autograph requests, we just so happened to sneak an interview in amongst all of the chaos. We spoke briefly about his opinion on east coast and west coast style, his music, and of course the Dr Romanelli collaboration. Enjoy!

Recently PONY has done another great collaboration with young NYC twin designers Dee & Ricky for the brand’s 40th anniversary. The Fall/Winter 2012 collection is featuring Dee & Ricky’s trademark vibrant and playful colours patterns. They also present their new sports apparel that goes well with footwear.  The apparel collection  is now on display at Bread & Butter Berlin with a release slated for late 2012. Stay tuned!

Michael Miller is a simple man with an extraordinary life in photography. Over the past 25 years, he has built an expansive portfolio includes over 300 majors That record covers, The Most Iconic supermodels of the ’90s and some of the biggest names in rap and jazz.

Miller was born and raised in Los Angeles and the only radio station Recalls That Came in clear where he lived During His teenage years was AM 1580 KDAY. As Santa Monica High School student in the midst of the punk, surf and skate scenes, he was listening to RUN DMC, Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick.

The exhibition will be a “One Night Only” with an exhibition based on a series of pictures in black and white and color that span the 80s – 90s through the streets of LA and its environs, and the presentation of the homonymous book that should out later.
